The book

A beautifully published book about a person.

Not a clinical form, assessment or provider document. The structure stays consistent; the personality comes from the individual’s words, routines, preferences, humour and point of view.

Know me before you care for me.

About Me

The little things. The important things. The things that make me, me.

Sequence

The person comes first.

The opening pages establish who the person is before practical care information takes over. Sections only appear when there is something real to say; empty headings and invented narrative never make it into print.

Voice

Written as though the person is introducing themselves.

First person for preferences, routines, values and lived experience. Neutral, factual language for safety information. Respectful, consumer-facing language throughout. We never infer cognition or capacity from speech, disability, mobility or communication method.

“I don’t like people talking fast. I need about fifteen minutes to take in something new, and I’ll get there.”

What is not in the book

Anonymous by design.

No names. No photographs. No medication names or doses. No formal diagnoses beyond what you choose to describe. The book does not replace formal medication charts, behaviour-support plans, emergency plans or clinician instructions; where a formal plan exists, the book points to it.
